What it costs
Every charge on a DeVOLT position, named. What DeVOLT takes, what the lender takes, what the market takes, and which of them you can see before you sign.
Opening a leveraged position is a single transaction that borrows, buys, deposits and repays. Each of those steps can carry a cost, and they are charged by different parties: DeVOLT, the lender who funds the loan, and the market you trade against. They are listed separately here because they behave differently: one is fixed, one depends on where the money is borrowed, and one depends on how deep the market is on the day.
The whole list
- DeVOLT fee
- 0.2% of the flash loan that funds the transaction, in the loan token, added to your debt. Charged by DeVOLT, on every open and on every close that involves a swap.
- flash loan
- Free on the lenders that charge nothing, which include Morpho Blue and Uniswap v4. Aave v3 charges its own premium, and it is charged by Aave, not by DeVOLT. The Execution Plan names the lender and what it charges at your size, in dollars.
- the swap
- Whatever the winning route quotes, plus the gap between the quoted price and the filled one. Paid to the market, not to anybody in particular.
- gas
- What the chain itself charges to run each transaction, at whatever the chain costs at the time. The open itself is a single transaction. The first time, an approval for the token you deposit and, on some venues, a permission at the venue are separate transactions before it, each with its own gas.
What DeVOLT charges
DeVOLT charges 0.2% of the flash loan that funds the open. The fee is in the loan token, the same token you borrow, and it is added to the debt of your position: the contract borrows the flash loan, the lender’s premium if it charges one, and this fee, repays the lender, and sends the fee on to DeVOLT’s fee recipient. Everything the swap buys goes into the lending market as your position.
It is not taken from your own deposit, and it is not taken from the collateral. Your deposit goes into the position untouched. The fee is charged inside the same transaction, by the contract, so there is no invoice and nothing to pay later. It shows up as part of the debt, which is why the Execution Plan names it separately before you sign.
On a close that involves a swap, the app models the same rate as taken from the proceeds of that swap, which are also in the loan token.
The rate can be changed, and the limit on that is written into the contract rather than promised in a document: the contract rejects any attempt to set it above 1%. Only an upgrade of the contract, the owner power the Security chapter describes, could change that ceiling. Any change to the rate is scheduled on the timelock that owns the contract, a public transaction, and waits before it takes effect.
The flash loan
The loan that funds the open is repaid inside the same transaction, and most lenders charge nothing for that. Morpho Blue is free by design, and so are Uniswap v4, Balancer V3 and PancakeSwap Infinity. Balancer V2 and SparkLend charge nothing today, at a setting their own governance controls. Aave v3 charges a premium.
The lender is chosen for each transaction, and a premium is paid only when no free lender holds enough at your size. The Execution Plan names the lender that was chosen, what it charges and what it holds, and lists the others beside it. See Flash lenders for how the choice is made.
The swap, and why it is not a fixed number
Turning the borrowed token into collateral means trading it, and a trade moves the price against you by an amount that depends on how much you are trading and how deep the market is that day. DeVOLT races every aggregator it has a route for and takes the best fill, which makes this cost as small as the market allows, but it cannot make it fixed, and no honest figure can be printed here in advance. The panel shows the quote you would actually get, at the size you actually entered, before you sign.
The app compares each route with the oracle price of the market, and a route that pays far less than the oracle implies is blocked before you sign. That limit is wide, because a dated token can legitimately trade away from its oracle, so a route can pass and still cost you real value, and the larger the position is compared with the market’s depth, the more of that you pay. The contract also enforces a minimum on what the swap returns, taken from the route’s own quote, which protects against the price moving between the quote and the fill and does nothing about a route that was thin to begin with.
The swap always happens on the chain the market lives on. DeVOLT has no bridge, so it never moves your tokens between chains, so no cross-chain fee can appear in any figure here.
What DeVOLT does not charge
There is no subscription, no charge for connecting a wallet, no charge for reading any market or any figure on the site, and no charge for closing a position beyond the fee and the swap described above. DeVOLT charges nothing for holding your position, because the position stays on your own account at the venue or in a contract you own; the Custody chapter explains the difference.
